Summer Blooms

I have been missing Provence a lot this summer. Due to my husband's schedule we are unable to make a trip there so we decided to find a little Provence an hour away from NYC. I absolutely love sunflowers! They are my second favorite flowers after Peonies. I did a little research to see if I could find a sunflower field near us. I knew there were a few upstate which would take us almost 4 hours to drive to. I really didn't want to make it a long trip. When I found this beautiful field in New Jersey which was only an hour drive from Manhattan I was thrilled and decided to book a Zipcar for the day. We took our time and enjoyed this lovely trail of sunflowers. There were many bees pollinating as you can see in the pictures if you look closely. So, if you are allergic to bees, please be aware. However, they did not pay us any mind as they were too busy enjoying themselves.

This sunflower field is called Andersen Farms and it is located on Route 15 in Sparta, NJ. The entrance fee is $10 per person.  You can also buy flowers at the tent as you leave. Please try and visit before the summer is over. It is open everyday from 10am-6pm and I believe the last day it is open is September 1st. For more details, please check out their website. Enjoy!
